SUSTAINABLE HOUSE BY WHIPPLE RUSSELL ARCHITECTS

 Summit House is a project developed by Marc Whipple from Whipple Russell Architects in the exquisite city of Beverly Hills. The project emphasises the architect’s perspective upon modern functionality and innovation, paying a special interest in developing a project, that not only looks good, but also ‘does’ good to the environment. The Summit House was built with natural materials and making use of sustainable technologies. The house “uses extensive solar power, a gray-water        
   reclamation system, and sound passive-solar design elements, making it the first 
   house permitted under the city of Beverly Hills green building ordinance.

Transparence is one of the main features, allowing inhabitants to see the entire house, wherever they are: the staircase features a glass railing and the living room is directly connected to the courtyard. Boasting wonderful recreational spaces, the Summit House has its very own bowling alley, located on the lower level of the house, offering a stunning “underwater view” into the pool. The interior is decorated with a fine art collection, adding a touch of colour and grace to this spacious, neutral living space.

The Cloud House is situated in the suburbs of Melbourne (Fitzroy North) and its name comes from the extension of the original Edwardian house; the ensemble is nothing but a beautiful symbiosis between traditional and contemporary architecture.
